In Botswana, Blacks are being excluded from the tourism industry. It is clear that many firms for Safaris in which there are few blacks are in favor. "The colonial administration was clearly backing the white safari firms against the new set up," writes Dr. Maitseo Bolaane, referring - with "new set-up", to the coming into being of the Ngamiland Fauna Conservation Society (NFCS) that was in the process of establishing Moremi. "Government officials are still sceptical about locally managed firms, and the safari firms themselves do not employ enough local people," Bolaane writes. There are also huge income disputes between whites and blacks.
I think that, while it is somewhat prejudiced, there is a point to what is occurring here. If certain firms lack experience, it may not be wise to place them in charge. This is especially true if the firms are not doing what is best, like hiring enough local people. However the prejudice that may be there must still be taken into account. Without the chance, how can anyone succeed?

This relates to Botswana's political aspect because it shows a small portion of favoritism. Government officials choose to favor whites in the tourism industry over blacks. This favoritism shows how the government in this country still leans toward its older ways. This is not so much a case of racism as it is experience. The white owned firms have more experience in such matters. Since this is the case, the government officials make their best decision.
