This article tells of how Ford is going to close down one of their plants in Genk, Belgium. However, it would not be as easy as they would have hoped. The workers of the plants barricaded vehicles inside the plant that had already been promised to the customers. Ford came to an agreement with the workers and ended up having to pay a high sum to each worker in exchange for closing down the plant. However the plant closing would cause problems for more than just the workers. Surrounding businesses that received work from part of Ford's activities would take a major hit as well. Many workers are still in shock and the area that Genk belongs to is hoping for a business to come in and provide jobs.
I believe Ford is doing what is best for them. However, I see it as unfair to the workers of the factory. Ford made a promise to them, then broke it. Now Genk is going to take a major economic hit. Ford should come up with a plan to help the people of Genk find jobs, as a sign of good will. However, this will not happen.

This article represents the economic part of Belgium's culture. It shows how crucial Belgium's industries are to its economic standing. Losing these jobs will put a dent in Belgium's economy. It will put 4,300 people out of a job. This will raise unemployment. These Belgians will then have to compete for the now cut job market.
